Accessible/Lift Equipped Transportation5 Points Wheels is a transportation program that is staffed by volunteers, managed and administered by the Lourie Center. The program provides transportation on a 14-passenger, lift-equipped bus for seniors and adults with disabilities who live in downtown Columbia, SC, to any location within the same area (see 'Territory' below). Bus operates 9:30am - 1:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The service has no set fee; riders make a suitable donation for each trip. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationDial-A-Ride is for people who are not able to ride the Aiken County Best Friend Express bus. It is a curb-to-curb pick-up and drop-off, advance reservation, shared ride, handicap accessible transport. It is NOT a cab service. The service area is within three-miles of the Best Friend Express bus route. This covers the City of Aiken, North Augusta, New Ellenton, and Midland Valley. Any person with a physical or mental disability which makes it impossible for him/her to use the Best Friend Express may be eligible. All riders must be certified by a physician. Applications are available at the Aiken Area Council on Aging at 159 Morgan Street, NW, Aiken, and at local agencies which serve persons with disabilities. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationAmbu-Star provides local and nationwide ambulance and wheelchair transport to hospitals, nursing homes, dialysis clinics, doctor's offices and private patients in Spartanburg, Cherokee, Union, Lancaster, Chester, and York Counties 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationAmerican TransMed provides advanced life-support ambulance services for individuals and medical institutions in the central upstate area of South Carolina. Local non-emergency, wheelchair-accessible transportation is available for medical appointments, leisure and recreational activities, transfer between facilities, and work-related activities. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationAshley Medical Transport Service, Inc. (AMT), provides non-emergency medical transfers and transportation by wheelchair lift-equipped van to and from area hospitals, nursing homes, doctors, dentists, ophthalmologists, dialysis, physical therapy, and cancer centers; and transportation of a person moving from one residence to another who requires medical monitoring . These services may be local, long distance, or even out-of-state. Local wheelchair transports should be scheduled at least one or two days ahead and long distance or out-of-state transports must be scheduled at least three days ahead. All vehicles and crews are licensed to meet or exceed the requirements and guidelines established by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationThe Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) provides the City of Charleston and surrounding urban areas with daily bus and trolley service. All CARTA vehicles are wheelchair-accessible. Older adults (beginning at age 55) and people with disabilities qualify for reduced fares on regular bus and trolley routes. CARTA also operates Tel-A-Ride, a "curb-to-curb" pick up and drop off, shared ride paratransit service serving the same area. Tel-A-Ride serves individuals who have difficulty boarding at regular bus stops because of a disability. Drivers can assist passengers in boarding and exiting the Tel-A-Ride van. The fare for Tel-A-Ride service is $3.00 each way. A registered personal care attendant can travel with a passenger at no extra charge. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationClemson Area Transit (CAT) has fixed-route bus service in the City of Clemson and on the campus of Clemson University. It also connects Clemson residents with other towns and schools nearby. All of the CAT fixed-route buses meet ADA guidelines for accessibility. They have wheelchair ramps and restraints to secure the wheelchairs inside the bus. in addition, CAT provides an ADA pick-up and drop-off service (para-transit) for people who are unable to use the regular routes because of a disability.PickensClemson Area TransitClemson Area Transit
Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationThe Coast RTA bus system, operated by the Waccamaw Regional Transportation Authority (WRTA), offers service every day of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Coast RTA operates 9 fixed routes in the Waccamaw Region. All buses are wheelchair-accessible The CATS and CATS Plus (Citizens Accessible Transit Services) programs provide "curb-to-curb" transportation for people who are unable to the regular bus services. Pick up and drop off must be within 3/4 mile of a regular bus route. Cost is double the regular bus fare up to a maximum of $3.00 one way or $6.00 round trip. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationGreenlink operates 11 fixed bus routes in and around the City of Greenville and much of Greenville County. All Greenlink buses are wheelchair-accessible. Reduced-price fares are available for persons with disabilities. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationIlderton sells and rents new and used adapted vehicles. Rental delivery and pick up fees depend on the location of the person in need. As of this update, the daily rental rate is $105.00 plus tax or $599.00 plus tax for a weekly rate. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationThe Lower Savannah ADTRC offers a curb to a curb pick-up and drop-off transportation service, by advanced reservation only, for residents of Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, and Orangeburg Counties who are at least 60 years old or have a disability. Vehicles are accessible by persons with mobility aids. Trips can be scheduled for medical appointments, employment, recreation, or any other purpose. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationNortheast Wheels is a transportation program that is staffed by volunteers, administered by the Capital Senior Center, and housed at the Richland County Sheriff's Department. The program provides transportation on a lift-equipped van for seniors and adults with disabilities who live in the near northeast Columbia, SC, to any location within the same area (see 'Territory' below). Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationPalmetto Breeze, formerly Lowcountry Regional Transportation Authority (LRTA), offers a "demand-response" pick up and drop off service within 15 miles of the City of Beaufort. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available for this service, if needed. The cost ranges from $7.00 - $15.00, each way depending on the length of the trip. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationPee Dee Regional Transportation Authority (PDRTA) operates the Florence Transit System; commuter routes between Florence and Darlington; commuter routes to the Myrtle Beach area from Marion and Lake City; and "curb-to-curb" pick-up and drop-off services. All PDRTA buses and facilities are wheelchair-accessible and ADA compliant. Senior citizens age 65 and up, people with disabilities, veterans of the US Armed Forces, and Medicare cardholders receive a half-price discount for all fares on the Florence Transit System. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationTransport Care Services, LLC is a non-emergency medical transportation provider that offers safe, timely, and courteous transportation services to all clients served. Transport Care Services, LLC provide transportation for patients who are ambulatory or mobile, require a wheelchair or stretcher, or are currently active and simply seeking assistance with their daily transportation needs. Transportation can be provided for personal, medical, or work related travels. Available vehicles include wheelchair accessible vans with side entry, wheelchair accessible vans with rear entry, and stretcher accessible vans with rear entry. All drivers are wheelchair certified. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationTriCounty Link provides regularly-scheduled, fixed-route, public bus service in the rural areas of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties. Accessible/Lift Equipped TransportationWheels - Harbison Area Transit provides transportation for older adults and persons with disabilities who live in the Harbison/St. Andrews area of Columbia, SC, to any location within the same area (see 'Territory' below) on a 14-passenger bus equipped with a lift and special safety harnesses for wheelchairs/scooters. Primary drop-off points are grocery stores, department stores, the malls, and shopping centers. Bus operates 9:00am - 12noon on Monday, 9:00am - 12noon and 1:30pm - 3:00pm on Wednesday, and 9:00am - 12noon on Friday. The agency provides transportation for the same persons to hospitals and doctors in the City of Columbia on Thursday morning. The service is free. Donations are accepted. Local Community Transportation5 Points Wheels is a transportation program that is staffed by volunteers, managed and administered by the Lourie Center. The program provides transportation on a 14-passenger, lift-equipped bus for seniors and adults with disabilities who live in downtown Columbia, SC, to any location within the same area (see 'Territory' below). Bus operates 9:30am - 1:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The service has no set fee; riders make a suitable donation for each trip.
